Since DBI started in May 2018, we have mentored over 70 girls impacted by parental incarceration in New Orleans and the surrounding areas.

WHAT WE DO

We provide girls with incarcerated parents, ages 8-18 with a safe space to learn and grow. Our after-school programming is Monday – Thursday from 4:30pm – 6:30pm at our offices that was created by girls just like them. We equipped them with tools to learn:

Policy Advocacy and Health & Wellness

WE ALL DON'T END UP IN PRISON. WE ARE ALL NOT HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUTS. AND CHANGING THE NARRATIVE IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO US. WE ARE DEFINITELY THE DEFINITION OF RESILIENT.

Become a Mentee

DBI understands the unique barriers that girls with incarcerated parents face every day. Enroll your daughter and be a part of a community that supports young girls, ages 8 to 18, teaching them that not every challenge will be an uphill climb.
